IGGA Guide Specification: Conventional Diamond Grinding for Pavement Preservation

This standard specifies the procedures for operations of continuous diamond grinding portland cement concrete (PCC) or asphalt concrete pavement and roadway surfaces to provide desired surface characteristics such as ride, friction and drainage.

Application(s)

Airport/Airfield, Bridge, Highway, Industrial, Race Track, City/Municipal

Technique(s)

Diamond Grinding

Issue(s)

Friction/Safety, Smoothness, Structural/Material Issues, Sustainability/Environmental, Tire/Pavement Noise

IGGA Guide Specification: Dowel Bar Retrofit (DBR)

This standard specifies the procedures for construction of dowel bar retrofit on existing portland cement concrete roadways. Dowel bar retrofit (DBR) consists of installing epoxy-coated, smooth, round dowel bars into existing concrete pavement across transverse joints and/or cracks. Slots are cut using diamond-tipped saw blades; the concrete is removed using lightweight jackhammers.

Application(s)

Airport/Airfield, City/Municipal, Highway, Industrial

Technique(s)

Dowel Bar Retrofit

Issue(s)

Structural/Material Issues

IGGA Guide Specification: Diamond Grinding Asphalt Pavements

This standard specifies the procedures for continuous diamond grinding of asphalt concrete pavements to eliminate surface defects such as rutting, roughness and surface deterioration as well as provide desired surface characteristics such as smooth ride, improved friction and drainage.

Application(s)

Airport/Airfield, Bridge, Highway, Industrial, Race Track, City/Municipal

Technique(s)

Diamond Grinding

Issue(s)

Friction/Safety, Smoothness, Structural/Material Issues, Sustainability/Environmental, Tire/Pavement Noise

IGGA Guide Specification: Conventional Diamond Grinding of City Streets

This standard specifies the procedures for operations of continuous diamond grinding portland cement concrete or asphalt concrete pavement city streets and low speed roadway surfaces to provide desired surface characteristics such as ride, friction and drainage.

Application(s)

City/Municipal

Technique(s)

Diamond Grinding

Issue(s)

Friction/Safety, Smoothness, Structural/Material Issues, Sustainability/Environmental, Tire/Pavement Noise

Dowel Bar Retrofit (DBR) Specification (2013)
